X.509 is an international standard defined for public certificate. x.509 bind identity information to the public key using digital signature.
A certificate contains identity information, public key and signed by self-signed Or Certificate Authority (CA).
You can also able to understand the difference between self signed and Certificate authority signed.
When we are creating certificate in the server, it includes both public key and private key. It's called key pair. If any one is having public key, then that person able to make communication between server and client.
