Screen reader testing for Pikaday and react-dates, with VoiceOver and Safari
VoiceOver + Safari screen reader testing in macOS 10.15.
I try two date pickers:

I try both date pickers with the VoiceOver screen reader cursor and navigation shortcuts, as well as normal keyboard navigation (arrow keys + enter).
Unfortunately Pikaday is completely unusable with a screen reader, both with vanilla keyboard navigation, and VoiceOver navigation. Screen reader users who stumble upon this on a site would have to know to type their dates as text, know to ignore Pikaday’s announcements, and hope the date doesn’t get mangled by Pikaday’s validation.
