Too often, we evaluate instruction by watching the teacher. But what if we looked through the eyes of the learner instead?

In this video, I introduce The Student Lens Framework™, a practical way to examine Tier 1 instruction by focusing on what students actually experience in the classroom.

Together, we'll explore six essential student experiences that should be present in every high-quality lesson:

• Students Think
• Students Belong
• Students Use Their Voice
• Students Own Their Learning
• Students Grow Through Productive Struggle
• Students Reflect

Grounded in research from John Hattie, Barak Rosenshine, Zaretta Hammond, Fisher & Frey, Robert Marzano, and cognitive science, this framework shifts the conversation from What did the teacher do? to What did students experience?

Whether you're a classroom teacher, instructional coach, principal, district leader, or professional learning facilitator, this video will help you rethink classroom observations, instructional planning, and Tier 1 instruction through a student-centered lens.

Reflection Question:

If I interviewed five students from your classroom today, could they honestly say...

✔ I did the thinking.
✔ I felt like I belonged.
✔ My ideas mattered.
✔ I owned my learning.
✔ I grew through challenge.
✔ I reflected on my progress.

Because the quality of instruction isn't measured by what we teach.
It's revealed by what students experience. If this framework challenged your thinking, I'd love to hear from you.

Comment below: Which of the six student experiences do you think is most often missing in today's classrooms?
