Hey friends, in today's short video, I'll show you exactly how to copy slides from one PowerPoint presentation to another. Whether you're combining multiple presentations, reusing content from old projects, or collaborating with teammates, this complete guide covers every method you need.
We'll cover three reliable methods:
Method 1: Copy and Paste (Simplest)
Open both PowerPoint presentations side by side
In the source presentation, select the slides you want to copy (hold Ctrl/Cmd to select multiple)
Right-click and choose "Copy" or press Ctrl+C (Cmd+C on Mac)
Switch to the destination presentation
Right-click where you want them and choose "Keep Source Formatting" or "Use Destination Theme"
Or press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) and choose paste options from the small icon that appears
Method 2: Reuse Slides Feature (Best for Organization)
In your destination presentation, go to the Home tab
Click the arrow under "New Slide" and select "Reuse Slides"
The Reuse Slides pane opens on the right
Click "Browse" and select your source presentation file
All slides appear as thumbnails—click any slide to insert it
Check "Keep source formatting" at the bottom if you want to preserve original design
Right-click any slide for options like "Insert All Slides"
Method 3: Drag and Drop (Visual Method)
Arrange both PowerPoint windows so you can see them
In the source presentation, click the slide thumbnail you want
Drag it directly into the destination presentation's slide panel
Release where you want it to appear
Hold Ctrl (Windows) or Option (Mac) while dragging to copy instead of move
Important Options Explained:
Keep Source Formatting: Preserves original colors, fonts, and design from the source
Use Destination Theme: Applies the receiving presentation's theme (good for brand consistency)
Picture of Slide: Pastes as a static image (not editable text)
Pro Tips:
To copy slides with all animations and transitions intact, use Method 1 with "Keep Source Formatting"
Working with different PowerPoint versions? Save source file in .pptx format for best compatibility
Can't see both windows? Use Windows + Arrow keys to snap them side by side
For linked Excel charts, copy the chart directly from Excel instead of the PowerPoint slide
Troubleshooting:
Slides look wrong after pasting? Undo (Ctrl+Z) and try the other paste option
Missing fonts? Install the same fonts on your computer or embed fonts when saving
Large presentations may take a moment to process—give it time
