In 2012, long before the current trend of vintage reissues that has now become so popular, Omega released the Speedmaster First Omega In Space (FOIS) as a tribute to the Speedmaster CK2998 worn by astronaut Wally Schirra on October 3, 1962 during the Mercury-Atlas 8 NASA mission.
