Shorten Rope Without Cutting | Sheepshank Knot
The sheepshank is a classic knot used to shorten a length a rope without cutting it. It's easy to untie after loading which makes it great for quick rigging. The knot should not be used in climbing or life-saving applications where an Alpine Butterfly Loop would be best suited, however a couple modifications to the knot shown here will allow the knot to hold under various conditions and cause the knot to be semi-permanent.
