As a warm-up exercise, try performing the Neck Stretch to loosen up the neck muscles & upper body. This is a great beginner stretch for seniors to do before starting their workout routine.
Follow Dr. Michael White, PT, as he performs this stretch to warm up your neck & get you ready for arm exercises. Follow these steps to get started:
Step 1:
Sit up straight & slowly tilt your head toward your right shoulder until you feel a stretch.
Step 2:
Hold this position while gradually extending your left arm down and to the side. You should feel a stretch on the left side of your neck.
Step 3:
Release, and repeat on the other side. Perform two to five repetitions per side.
