One such protest happened at the JFK airport, where New York taxi drivers announced a boycott of JFK to protest controversial order but Uber choose to continue their service – a move that critics saw as crossing picket lines.
A social media protest under the #DeleteUber quickly went viral, over 200,000 customers deleted their accounts. Thus after a week of widespread protest against the company, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has withdrawn from Donald Trump’s economic advisory council. The decision to step down drew praise from Uber drivers and Muslim advocates. Apart from Travis, Disney CEO Bob Iger also pulled out of the council.
