A gear pump, also known as a rotary pump, is a positive displacement pump of the rotary type used to pump various types of liquids. This type of pump is reliable and versatile, capable of transporting both clean liquids and viscous pastes containing various abrasive particles. It is indispensable in production, performing both lubrication and pumping functions. Gear pumps are divided into two types: internal gear pumps and external gear pumps. Their operating principle is quite similar, involving the rotation of gears and the circulation of fluid between them. In an external gear pump, one gear is the driving gear, and the other is the driven gear. The driving gear initiates rotation, and the driven gear picks up the rotation, causing the gears to rotate in opposite directions. This rotation creates cavities between the gear teeth, which receive fluid. This fluid is transferred between the suction and discharge cavities, resulting in circulation and expulsion of the fluid.
