Among Us is an online multiplayer and social deduction game developed by InnerSloth for Android and iOS on June 15, 2018, and on November 16, 2018. It was released for Microsoft Windows.
It is a space-themed so-called "werewolf game" in which players are divided into two roles: the Crewmate and a small number of Impostors. The goal of the Crewmate is to identify and eliminate the Impostor and complete tasks on the map. The Imposter on the other hand is to covertly sabotage and kill the Crewmate before the Crewmate completes all tasks. A player who is considered to be an imposter may be eliminated from the game through multiple rounds of voting. A crewmate wins when all imposters are eliminated or all tasks on the map are completed. On the other hand, the Imposter wins when the number of Crewmates and Imposters is equal, or when a serious disturbance caused by the Imposter is not resolved.
The game was released in 2018 and initially received little to no significant attention, but grew in popularity in 2020 as many Twitch streamers and YouTubers played it. In response to the game's popularity, a sequel, Among Us 2, was announced in August 2020, but was canceled a month later, and the development team shifted its focus to improving the original game (this one).
