Today we know Tom Hanks as a national treasure and one of the most talented actors in showbusiness. But back in the early '80s -- before Hanks became the star he is now -- he starred in the fantasy rom-com Splash.
The movie was a critical and commercial success and made Hanks into an instant star. The movie follows Allen Bauer (played by Hanks) who falls in love with a mysterious woman played by Daryl Hannah who is secretly a mermaid.
