Despite all the cables, I set this up and recorded it pretty quickly. It's a simple idea... I'm just using the resonator app that comes with Clouds (Parasites firmware) to provide a drone. You can see a short video about this app here: • Clouds Parasites - 2. Resonestor Mode
Sending a short looping envelope to Clouds excites the resonator and it makes a resonant sound, something like a stringed instrument. This sound can be turned into a chord and filtered, which I'm doing here.
The chord is droning and doesn't go through a vca or envelope, as such. However, I am sending it through a filter - Seiche from Holocene Electronics. As Clouds has a stereo output, and Seiche is a dual filter, I am sending the L channel through one side of Seiche and the R channel through another, with slightly different setting on each filter channel. The signal then goes through the Messor compressor (from Cosmotronic) where it is sidechained against the kick - so every time the kick hits the droning chord ducks (fades) out of the mix, which is why you don't hear it droning throughout the jam.
Finally, I am sending the chord through Mimeophon for delay/reverb.
The beats are sequenced by the Compare 2 comparator from Joranalogue. I am sending two trigger sequences to Compare 2, and then using the logic outputs to trigger the drum sounds (which come from Akemie's Taiko and samples on Squid Salmple.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
