Candid Conversations on Professional Journeys: Court Craft, Values & Ethics
The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Punjab in association with the CAN Foundation presents: "Candid Conversations on Professional Journeys: Court Craft, Values & Ethics". The interactive session provides an insight into experiences of alumni of our larger NLU fraternity, who shall be sharing their understandings of the profession by recounting their journey from a student up to the current day as a Judge.
Esteemed Speakers:
Hon'ble Mr. Justice Shekhar B. Saraf: Justice Saraf, In 1996, graduated from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. The first NLSIU student to have undertaken a placement program with Mr. Dipankar Gupta, Solicitor General for India, New Delhi. He started practice in 1999. He went Independent from 2001 onwards and handled all kinds of matters. In 2000, he obtained the Chevening Scholarship for The Young Indian Lawyers Program 2000 and in January 2001, he qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He was elevated as an Additional Judge of the High Court at Calcutta in September 2017 and was Appointed as Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court in September 2019.
Hon'ble Mr. Justice Suraj Govindaraj: Justice Govindaraj is a1995 graduate from National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. He was involved as a partner at Bangalore-based Anup S Shah Law Firm and had been with the firm’s founder Anup Shah since 1997. He had joined AZB & Partners when the firms merged in Bangalore in 2009. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Karnataka and taken oath in September 2019.
