1. Open DaVinci Resolve
Launch DaVinci Resolve and create a new project.
2. Import Your Video
Go to the Media Page and import your long video file.
3. Open Scene Cut Detection
Right-click on the video in the Media Pool → select Scene Cut Detection.
4. Analyze the Video
Click Auto Scene Detect (or Analyze).
Resolve will scan the entire video and detect all cut points automatically.
5. Review the Detected Cuts
You will see cut points marked as vertical lines.
Play through and check if the cuts are accurate.
6. Remove Incorrect Cuts
If there are unwanted cuts:
Select the cut → click Delete.
7. Add Missing Cuts
If a cut is missed:
Move the playhead to the correct frame → click Add Cut.
8. Adjust Sensitivity
Too many cuts → decrease sensitivity
Too few cuts → increase sensitivity
9. Add Clips to Media Pool
Once everything looks correct, click Add Cuts to Media Pool.
Now your video is split into separate clips.
10. Edit on Timeline
Drag the clips to the timeline.
You can now:
Rearrange clips
Delete unwanted parts
Add transitions and music
