Concept of Islam
The fundamental concept of Islam is premised on the notion that the whole universe is created by Allah Almighty, the sustainer of all things.
He created man for a fixed period of life to be lived on earth as a trust and test.
Allah has prescribed a divine code of life for man and granted freedom to follow his code or not.
Those who follow the code revealed by God are considered Muslims (believers) while those who decline to follow the same are termed as Kuffar (disbelievers),
The essence of basic Islamic concept consists of the idea that it is not enough to practice Islam in the personal life only, but the teachings of the Quran and those of the Sunnah need also be implemented in their totality in the Social, Economic and political fields.
A man can join the fold of Islam by testifying the Unity of God and the Prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH).
Both these beliefs are epitomized in the Kalimah.
Islam is an Abrahamic, monotheistic religion which teachings and beliefs are that there is only one God and Muhammad is the messenger of God.
The cities of Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem are home to the three holiest sites in Islam.
Islam is historically believed to have originated in the early 7th century CE in Mecca, and by the 8th century the Umayyad Caliphate extended from Iberia in the west to the Indus River in the east. The Islamic Golden Age refers to the period traditionally dated from the 8th century to the 13th century, during the Abbasid Caliphate, when much of the historically Muslim world was experiencing a scientific, economic and cultural flourishing.
It is the world's second-largest religion with over 1.8 billion followers
