Oni are warriors who train their bodies to achieve superhuman abilities, transforming in order to protect humanity from monstrous beings known as Makamou. Hibiki is one such Oni, entrusted with the duty of defeating these threats to keep people safe.
A young boy named Asumu Adachi visits Yakushima and witnesses a fierce battle between an Oni and a Makamou. The warrior he encounters is Hibiki in his transformed form. Through his growing admiration for Hibiki, as well as his own worries and uncertainties, Asumu begins a journey of personal growth as he continues to meet Hibiki and the other Oni.
Drawing on the motif of the oni, this series strongly emphasizes Japanese culture and music, presenting a distinctly Japanese aesthetic. At its heart, it is a story of encounters, mentorship, and growth, depicting the bond between the Oni and a young boy as he matures.
