Cobra Kai Season 3 Reactions and Review (Spoilers)
Cobra Kai has done it again in season 3. At some points, they rode a razor thin line of stoking the flame and jumping the shark and I am more than happy to say that it is NOT the latter (yet)... Season 3 Episode 10 did a phenomenal job of “telling” Season 2 Episode 10 to “hold its beer” and had me standing up in the middle of my living room hooting and hollering.
I think it is really important to emphasize the brilliance in the simplicity of using proven, well worn story mechanics to entertain to the max! In the case of Cobra Kai, that is a TON of Star Wars and Dragon Ball Z. It just ticks all of the boxes.
And yet, at the same time it feels fresh and new because the writers have done such a great job in fleshing out backstory and turning 1 dimensional archetypal characters from an 80s underdog story (from the guy who gave you Rocky) and shaded them in 3 dimensions - giving us wonderful, deeper understanding as to why they are the way they are.
