Why I started using Linux Ubuntu for web development as my daily driver | Techie Show
Hey, so this is a short version of why I started using Ubuntu for web development as my daily driver. As a web developer/sysadmin/jack of all trades, working on other Linux machines (Ubuntu Server & CentOS) is a lot easier in Ubuntu.
There are a few other reasons and cool stuff that made me do it but I'll uncover them in future videos. So don't forget to SUBSCRIBE and Like the video! It helps a lot!
To be clear: this is not a debate of windows vs Linux or Windows vs Ubuntu. It's just my story and probably the TLDR is: Ubuntu got a lot better since I last tried it seriously (14.04 vs 20.04 that I'm using now)
I'm using Ubuntu 20.04 (FocalFossa).
As I mentioned in the video, I still dual boot with Windows 10 for a couple of reasons:
sometimes I need to use Adobe products that just don't go well with Wine;
I sometimes game;
there are some specific programs like MSI Afterburner that I sometimes need. I mean, you can't make a tutorial or try that software out if it's not available in Ubuntu;
Mind you, there are some great Terminals out there for Windows too! So I won't judge if you don't care for Ubuntu. But if the terminal or other stuff scares you, just don't let it!
Ubuntu is a lot more user friendly for day to day work than it used to be a couple of years ago and a pretty good and polished OS - even the normal version, that comes with the GNOME desktop. (I'm talking of using it for writing, browsing, multimedia, etc.)
If you're new, you might like Kubuntu too! It's a friendlier interface for long time Windows users.
