David Kopenawa was only a child when a group of researchers (James Neel and Napoleon Chagnon) sponsored by the US Atomic Energy Comission, entered his territory to collect blood samples from his people. Today, knowing that these samples are spread in research centers and that they have been used in projects as Genome Project, the Yanomami are claiming their blood back, since according to their cosmological believes the spirits of the deceased cannot rest in peace while their blood are kept vaguing around.
