In this short tutorial, I demonstrate a fundamental modeling principle in 3ds Max. The task is to model a cylindrical 3D object with cutouts. I start by creating a plane with segments, then apply an Edit Poly modifier, and delete polygons where the holes will be. Next, I use the Bend modifier to shape the plane into a 360-degree cylinder. After welding the vertices, I add thickness to the model using the Shell modifier. Finally, I refine the model with Chamfer and TurboSmooth modifiers to achieve the desired result. Watch the entire process unfold to see the final perforated cylindrical object!
