Learn how to find the area of a composite figure with a rectangle and a semicircle.
The key to finding the area of a composite figure is to figure out what type of shapes you have.
In this example, the figure is a combination of a rectangle and a semicircle.
The area of a rectangle can be found using length times width
The area of the semicircle can be found using 1/2 ( pi x radius squared)
After you have calculated the area of the rectangle and the square, you then add these two values together for the area of the semicircle.
Area is always squared.
