A 10 minute video analysing an 18 word poem, in which I make the ironic observation that the thing that makes this poem so compelling is its brevity.
But in all seriousness - this is a staggeringly good poem, and you should read it along with the rest of the collection it is from: Little bit long time.
Something I don't make much of in this video is the fact that Ali Cobby Eckermann is an Aboriginal poet and that much of her poetry in the collection 'Little bit long time' deals with the history of Aboriginal Australians post colonisation. As a woman that was taken from her parents as a child, her voice, and the voice of many many others needs to be heard. The good news is that you can hear that very voice in an astounding collection :)
