int this video explains how to connect to your work network from outside the office using L2TP with IPsec VPN step by step
1. Create an IP Pool
First, define the range of IP addresses that will be assigned to your VPN clients.
Go to IP - Pool.
Click the + (Add) button.
Name: vpn-pool
Addresses: Enter a range outside your main DHCP pool (e.g., 192.168.88.200-192.168.88.250).
2. Configure the PPP Profile
The profile defines the DNS and the local gateway for the VPN connection.
Go to PPP - Profiles.
Click + to add a new profile.
Name: l2tp-profile
Local Address: Enter your router’s LAN IP (usually 192.168.88.1).
Remote Address: Select the vpn-pool you created in Step 1.
DNS Server: Use your router's IP or public DNS (e.g., 8.8.8.8).
3. Create VPN Users (Secrets)
This is where you set the credentials for people connecting.
Go to PPP - Secrets.
Click +.
Name: (e.g., john_doe)
Password: (Use a strong password)
Service: l2tp
Profile: l2tp-profile
4. Enable the L2TP Server
Now, we turn the service on and link it to IPsec.
Go to PPP - Interface tab.
Click the L2TP Server button.
Enabled: Check this box.
Default Profile: l2tp-profile
Use IPsec: Select yes or required.
IPsec Secret: Enter a "Pre-Shared Key" (PSK). You will need this to connect from your devices.
