In this part, the Areal finally turns into a zone of total survival, where the familiar rules no longer apply. Danger comes not only from anomalies and mutants, but also from people who, for the sake of resources, power, or their own survival, are willing to cross any line.
The characters are drawn into a series of brutal conflicts, where every decision carries a high price and a mistake almost guarantees death. Soldiers, scientists, stalkers, and marauders all act at the same time, pursuing different goals, yet all of them, one way or another, become hostages of the Areal.
The book shows how extreme conditions break some people and harden others, emphasizing the main idea: in the world of the Areal, the one who is doomed is not the physically weak, but the one who loses their humanity or makes the wrong choice.
