The major advantage of the Shark Screw® is that it integrates into the natural bone remodeling process. After the Shark Screw (bone screw) is inserted, it is colonized by the body's own cells. This allows the bone screw to fully integrate into the body's own bone, thus promoting natural bone healing. This also saves the patient valuable time and sick leave, because many surgeons still rely on the use of metal in the conventional treatment of bunions, flat feet, fractures, etc. Since metal is perceived as a foreign body in the bone, there is a high probability that metal screws and plates will have to be removed, which means the patient has to undergo a second operation.
