This video on rational exponents and radicals explains how to read, interpret, and evaluate numbers with rational exponents. We begin by showing you why fraction exponents involve radicals and types of roots. Our first set of examples includes rational exponents where the top of the fraction is 1, and then we work examples where the top of the fraction is not 1. Many examples are worked with a variety of bases, including fractions, converting them to radicals (roots). This is a topic commonly found in an algebra or precalculus course.
