Get Project, Program and Resource Information with Power BI and Microsoft Project for the web
INTRODUCTION
So you’ve decided you are going to use Project for the web to manage your projects and assign resources to work. But, how are you going to get the visibility you need to plans, progress and resources?
Power BI can solve this problem with an out-of-the-box content pack.
Western Principles can help you get started, and extend the content pack to meet your needs.

THE POWER BI CONTENT PACK
Microsoft has released a set of out-of-the-box Power BI reports that you simply point to your Project for the web instance.
This content pack gives you instant access to project, portfolio, resource, and task information that comes directly from entries in Project.
The Power BI dashboards also run in Teams and in the Power BI app for your smart phone. Giving your project executive, PMO team, Project Managers, and Team Members access to the dashboards anywhere and anytime.

The content pack’s dashboards provide portfolio information that you can easily filter so that you can target specific programs or projects.
The dashboards are well designed with colourful indicators to draw your eye to important information.
The dashboards, like this Portfolio Timeline, have helpful pop-ups that allow you to quickly get more information from each report.
The Resource reports includes dashboard that shows you what people are working on. A Project Executive or PMO team might use these reports to understand who’s doing what.
The PMO may need more details like specific assignments, and a project manager may use another dashboard to understand what the team is doing at the task level.
A Team Member can even see dashboards that show the assigned tasks and a timeline view – kind of a Gantt chart from the individual’s perspective.
These dashboards provide good starting points for creating a set of reports for your own business needs.

Project for the web is built on the Microsoft Power Platform.
Western Principles has skills in all versions of Microsoft Project and deep capabilities with Power BI. We can configure, extend, and customize Project and the dashboards to meet your specific needs, and help you drive decisions to deliver projects on-time, on-budget, and on-scope.
