In this video we talk about how deep you need to dig for a retaining wall, as well as how wide and long your trench needs to be for your base material and embedded layer of the wall.

The depth calculation includes the height of your base, the bedding layer which is optional, and the height of your embedded course which is a minimum 6". The width of your base is a minimum of 28" which includes the width of your trench in front of the wall, the depth of your wall blocks, and the drainage area behind your wall blocks.
