PELLET SEATING - boost performance of .177 & .22 air rifles?
Will pellet seating boost the power of your airgun, or make your air gun more accurate? With a Beeman PellSeat tool and a DIY pellet seater made from a nut, bolt and BB, Nigel Allen undertakes hours of testing with four brands of pellet – each in .177 and .22 – and two break-barrel springer rifles in an attempt to see if a pellet seater is better for inserting your ammo into the breech than… well, a thumb!
Diabolo pellets tested are: Webley AccuPell, RWS Hobby, Rangemaster Kaiser and Webley VMX – each in .177 and .22.
Power readings are taken via a Combro Cb-625 speed meter to assess muzzle energy with and without the pellets seated, and accuracy is checked at 25 yards with seated pellets and those pressed in by just a thumb!
The rifles used are a .22 calibre Webley VMX OS Quantum and .177 Feinwerkbau 124 Sport. It’s a lot of shooting… and as the results start to unfold throughout this short film, they may even raise a few eyebrows.
