Don't Forget The 5GHz Spectrum
DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) allows WiFi devices to use an expanded portion of the 5GHz band, provided the system detects and avoids any radar present in the area. Cisco's entire line of 802.11n Access Points support DFS while many competing products, including Aruba's AP-105, are not certified for these channels. A capacity test using six Access Points and 100 Clients is used to demonstrate the benefits of DFS with a UDP traffic load of 8Mbps per client and a minimum SLA of 4Mbps. Cisco's test configuration included RRM and Load Balancing enabled. Aruba's test configuration included ARM, Airtime Fairness, Spectrum Load Balancing and Dynamic Channel Reuse enabled.
