United International Pictures logo [open matte] (1982)
Open matte version to first logo of the London-based distribution company, United International Pictures (UIP). The company has distributed over 1000 films under licence across the world and was formed in 1981. Originally started in 1970, as "Cinema International Corporation" by Paramount and Universal to distribute the two studio's films outside the United States.
UIP is based in London, UK and is a unit of ViacomCBS (50%) and NBCUniversal (50%).
Logo used for 15 years (1982 - 1997).
This is the open matte version, in which there is MORE picture (which is hidden in the 1.85:1 widescreen aspect version) on top and bottom and a loss of picture from side to side.
