Scenic flight around Mt. Rainier Taken on August 4 2007. The video was shot from the Cessna 182 at a cruise altitude of 12,000 Feet MSL. The air in the Pacific Northwest was unusually calm and stable without the normal turbulance, up drafts, down drafts and mountain wave effect that are associated with these Cascade giants. The approach is from the south with a circle around the east, north and west flank of Mt. Rainier. The final pass is made across the northern flank above Winthrop and Emmons Glaciers, crossing the ridgeline between the 11,138 foot Little Tahoma Peak and the east flank of 14,411 foot Mt. rainier at 300 feet agl.
