The concept of "stage" in the Git version control system can sometimes be difficult to understand, but in this video, I've tried to explain it to the best of my knowledge.

Git definitely has its own unique vocabulary. Because of this, many concepts can be difficult to fully understand. "Commit" is an example.

Git has three basic workflows:

1️⃣ You modify working files on your local computer (computer, folder, etc.).
2️⃣ You add the files you want to include in your next commit to stage.
3️⃣ You can commit the files in your stage area to your remote server (git directory).

✨ A good example from Wikipedia: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...

✨ Staging a file essentially means preparing it for the next commit. Even if it's in the same file, only the changes you stage will be pushed to the remote Git server in your next commit. For example, it's 6:00 a.m. and you're about to leave work, and you have two developments, A and B. You've completed development A, but development B isn't yet complete. You want to commit and go home, so you can stage and commit the parts of development A. Since changes B will still remain in your working directory, you can come back tomorrow morning and continue that development.

For another example, even on the same file, let's call it "file.txt," you can continue working on it again after staging the changes you want to include in the next commit. Any changes you make to this file after staging will not be included in your next commit.

In fact, within Git, this structure is originally called "index" or "cache." We can think of it as caching or indexing files that will be committed in the next commit. This holds the link between the current working directory and the next commit.

I think the "stage" approach allows us to better control exactly how we want to approach version control.
