http://drakepin-up.com/ In my quest to simplify what I thought worked last week, I tried to focus on the stylized line-work and abstract background. There was a lot of texture in the previous weeks painting that gave it a lot of energy and made it dynamic, but this week, I thought the womans curves could work on their own. As I look through the portfolio of pin-ups created this year, I have seen some trends emerge. Some better than others. One of them is the color space I tend to work in. I wanted to push myself out of the colors that I would normally choose. Usually these are colors that I know are going to work because I have used them over and over. I was trying to create a new palette that was simplified and stylized but would still live in the same family as my other pin-ups. As for the afro, this was a request from one of my coworkers. I hope she likes it. Also, I have been getting good feedback about the curves I draw for the back sides of my pin-ups, so I thought I would pick another pose that gave me the opportunity to deliver on that.
