Learn how freelance journalist Laura Walters fell for a Russian influence operation—and how you can avoid one.

Influence operations are finding new ways to ensnare unwitting, legitimate journalists in their disinformation campaigns. In September, the Russian Internet Research Agency tricked more than 20 journalists to write pieces for a seemingly legitimate media organization known as Peace Data. Laura Walters was one of these journalists and shares her three tips to spot an influence operation.
