In 1263, after the death of Alexander Nevsky, power began to pass from one brother to the next. After the death of his youngest brother, the reign of Alexander Nevsky's sons began. There were four of them: Vasily of Novgorod, Dmitry of Pereyaslavl, Andrei of Gorodetsk, and Daniil of Moscow. The eldest, Vasily, became prince of Novgorod during his father's lifetime. And in 1276, Dmitry of Pereyaslavl became grand prince. Andrei and the youngest, Daniil, ruled their own principalities. But ultimately, the brothers failed to govern the country in peace and harmony...
By watching this episode, you will learn: which of Alexander Nevsky's sons was the first to begin the struggle for power? What role did the Golden Horde play in this conflict? And who was the only brother who proved worthy of their great father?
