I made this video to help you decide if you want to keep the EF 50mm f1.8 stm version for your canon mirrorless camera (EOS R, EOS RP, EOS R6, R5, R3) and continue using it with the adapter or consider selling it and buying the Canon RF 50mm f1.8 STM (Canon rf 50mm f/1.8 stm lens) version. Watch this video before you make a decision and compare some of the images between the two lenses. Side by side image comparison done in lightroom. It is a simple lense shootout and quick autofocus test on two lenses so you can see the bokeh, the out of focus areas and how each lens renders it plus the chromatic aberration (I purposely made the sample pictures have a higher reflective surface). Shooting at different apertures helps you see the lens and image quality throughout all the different use cases. From my recorded review, I can't tell much difference between the two lenses. At some aperture, the RF one might be a hair or marginally sharper and with very smaller amount of CA. Sample images taken from both cameras.
Initial Clips shot on Iphone 12 mini (accidentally filmed in 1080 instead of 4k. oops) and photos taken with canon r6 with the canon ef 50mm f1.8 stm (stepping motor- quiet AF and pretty fast compared to previous 50mm f1.8 ii versions) with the EF-eos R adapter. Photos with the RF 50mm f1.8 stm are also taken on the Canon R6 with unedited raw images for comparison in adobe lightroom. I compare several images at different apertures and look at them side by side. There is also a quick autofocus test (where you see what the camera is recording) as well as from the touch screen.
