Stranded, Alone, Falling in Love | Island of Desire (1952) Classic
During World War II, a US Navy ship is torpedoed in the South Pacific. The sole survivors are Elizabeth, a Canadian army nurse, and Mike Dugan, a young Marine corporal. Stranded together on a remote tropical island, the two must learn to coexist — dividing their shelter, their lagoon, and their daily lives with stubborn pride and growing tension. As weeks pass with no rescue in sight, they discover the diary of a man shipwrecked on the same island years before, whose tale of love and loneliness mirrors their own unspoken feelings. Slowly, reluctantly, Elizabeth and Mike fall in love — until the outside world threatens to tear them apart.
