Project Management Exists in Every Industry
Project Management is a profession that goes across any industry where there are projects. This means the pivot into Project Management may not be as vast a jump as you may initially think.
A project is defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as “a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result.” Think launching a marketing campaign, setting up an HR employee onboarding system, constructing a set of condominiums etc.
If you’re wanting to pivot into project management, start with defining the scope of your work items that fit the definition of a project, study the project lifecycle and look into PMI certification (CAPM if you have no project experience and PMP if you have project experience, the detailed requirements are available on PMI.org).
