Maintaining an erection after prostate surgery is a frequently asked question. This condition is quite rare after benign prostate surgery.

After nerve-sparing radical prostate cancer surgery, even though the nerve and vascular bundles that enable erection in the penis are preserved, it may still take some time for erections to return. This period can range from a few weeks to one to two years. This recovery period also depends on the patient's age, pre-operative erectile status, and any existing conditions such as diabetes or hypertension. During this period, when the penis is not erection-capable of sexual intercourse, it is important to achieve erection through oral or intravenous injections. This process is called penile rehabilitation.
