Oh, my, my, my- Vincent Castronovo One-Shot
[for ICONicAdrii135; I'm really excited about this one! :]
Adriana finished putting the last few things into boxes. She sighed as she leaned against the door frame; she hated goodbyes. The eighteen year old was about to leave when she noticed a photograph on the floor. She smiled when she picked it up. Two kids; about ages seven and nine, holding hands on the beach. Adri hadn't seen the boy in the picture for twelve long years.
When she was six, Adri moved to Houston, Texas with her step-father. Now that she was eighteen, she decided to relocate back to Englishtown, her hometown, to be near her mother. Being the Romantic she was, she secretly hoped to see the boy in the photograph again.
On the back of the picture were the words 'Adri and Vinny.' Vinny. She could remember him perfectly. He had brown hair and beautiful eyes and his laugh was contagious.
"Goodbye, baby girl. Call me the second you get there!" Adri's dad gave her a stern look. "And I suppose you should tell Cathy I say hello." Cathy was his ex-wife.
"Got, it, Dad." She smiled.
"Oh, Adri!" Her mother cried, hugging her daughter. "It's been so long! You cut your hair!"
"Nice to see you too, Mom," She said, trying to free herself from her mom's grasp so she could breathe. There was a knock on the door and Adri's mother let her go immediately.
"Oh! That's Mrs. Castronovo! You remember her, don't you? She was our closest family friend since we first moved here. I told her you were coming home and she insisted that she sees you again!" She laughed, opening the door.
Castronovo. Castronovo. That sounded so familiar to Adri. Why couldn't she place the name? The woman stepped into the house smiling from ear to ear.
"Adrianna! So nice to see you again!" Mrs. Castronovo exclaimed. She noticed the puzzled look on the eighteen-year old's face and introduced herself. "I'm Mrs. C, remember? Vinny's mother."
"V-Vinny?" Adri repeated.
"Come on, Adri. You have to remember Vinny, at least. Oh, I have a picture of you two together somewhere. Hmm," Cathy fuddled around trying to find the picture. Adri dug her hand into her pocket and pulled it out.
Mrs. Castronovo sighed. "Oh, I wish Vinny were here. He'd love to see you again."
"Where is he?" Adri asked quickly.
"He's down in Texas. I don't even know why, just got up and left." As these words came out, the teen's heart sunk. Texas. Why couldn't she have just stayed in Texas?
"Why don't we sit down?" Adri's mom said, motioning over to the table. "I'll make a cup of coffee."
"Eh, it looks like rain." Mrs. Castronovo sighed, looking out the window.
"You know, Adri, we used to always joke that you and Vinny would be together someday. But you were two years younger than him. We used to roll our eyes, oh my, my, my." Cathy smiled, reminiscing.
"When did he leave for Texas?" There was a spark of hope in the girl's voice.
"Yesterday. I don't know when he'll be back," The spark evaporated.
Then, out of nowhere, Adriana got the urge to dance in the rain.
"Do you still have my old bike?" She asked, remembering the bike that she never got to ride; it was too big for her. It was bubble gum pink with curved handlebars and a basket in the front.
"It's in the garage, why?" Cathy asked as her daughter jumped up and headed for the garage. "Adri, don't be silly. You can ride it now; it's raining."
She didn't care. She grabbed the bike and sped off through town. She loved the feeling; wind hitting her face gently, her long hair flowing, the rain soaking her clothes. The bike came to a stop and the beach. Adri stood at the edge of the water, letting the waves meet her toes. She heard someone call her name, and when she turned she saw a tall brown haired boy a little way down on the shoreline. She immediately recognized him.
"Vinny!" Adri screeched, running to him. He picked her up and spun her around.
"You remember me!" Vinny smiled.
"I could never forget." She pulled the photograph out of her pocket; the rain suddenly stopped. "Your mom said you were in Texas."
"Your mom said you were in Texas," The boy grinned, pulling out the exact same picture from his pocket. "I found this yesterday and called your mom. I took the first plane to Texas and found your house, but your father said you came here. So, I took the first plane back here. I decided to come to the beach where this picture was taken; just to think, and I found you."
"Finally," Adri smiled, touching her lips to his.
