A playthrough of the hidden character Daegon in Midway’s/Netherrealm’s Mortal Kombat Armageddon.

Goddamn, doesn’t he look a lot like Kratos. Actually, hold that thought.
Daegon is the boring-as-fuck, cookie-cutter villain of this game’s Konquest Mode. He looks a fan artist tried to combine Kratos and Shao Kahn, and this was the surprisingly disappointing result. Despite this, Daegon actually plays pretty well. Like Meat, he only has two fighting styles (if only to rub in how underdeveloped of a character he is), but he still plays pretty well. He has a generic fireball projectile (which we saw utilised by Blaze in Deadly Alliance and Unchained), but the rest of his special moves are pretty decent. He has an attack where he dashes back and then lunges forward, which is great for getting the opponent off-guard. He has another move where he rolls forward before delivering an uppercut to the opponent, which knocks them into the air for an additional combo, or, Daegon’s last special move, which is basically just a fiery variant of Sub-Zero’s Cold Shoulder attack. His basic fighting style has a few decent combos, but where he really shines is his weapon moveset.

I should add that Daegon is a fucking pleb, because as you can see he uses a pair of Drakeswords. Doesn’t he realise those don’t scale with your stats, and that he’d be better off just levelling up a regular weapon? That’s what he gets for being a guide-reader, I guess. Despite that, it hasn’t affected him much as his sword combos absolutely slice and dice through the opponents. The fact that one even stuns the opponent (Square, square, triangle) is even better, as it allows him to follow up with a shoulder charge on arenas with death-traps. Hell, his sword combos are so quick and destructive that I tear through Blaze with no problem as a result, as they continuously stop him mid-attack. Daegon in this way is basic, and definitely a little cheap, but in terms of gameplay he’s actually not too bad.

Other noteworthy points in the video include footage of Disappointment Motaro (DM), as well as Daegon’s awful ending where he isn’t even allowed to win, despite the fact that nearly everyone else gets to win in their endings.

I couldn’t exactly call Daegon a decent addition (he looks like a villain Vin Diesel would play in a direct-to-video movie), but he’s certainly not bad either. The fact that he’s exclusive to this game might hold some weight, but as far as villains go he’s as generic as they come.

Speaking of generic, next up I finish up the hidden characters with the protagonist of Konquest Mode, Taven.
