Sergei Rachmaninoff composed his famous Vocalise for soprano or tenor with piano accompaniment in 1915 and dedicated it to the outstanding opera singer and coloratura soprano Antonina Nezhdanova.
The Vocalise, Op. 34, No. 14 is performed far more frequently in various instrumental arrangements than in the original vocal version. It is one of the most popular romances among transcribers, and Rachmaninoff wrote his own version for orchestra.
This recording features two arrangements of the Vocalise:
for piano solo, played by Katya Kramer-Lapin, and
for saxophone with piano accompaniment, played by Vitaly Vatulya and Maria Nemtsova.
