A Widow Who Chose to Rise
My name is Rina. I'm a widow living independently. I've been living alone for several years after my marriage ended. At first, I felt like my world was crumbling. It felt like all the dreams I'd ever built had vanished.
I spent many nights in tears. I wondered if my life could ever get better. However, over time, I realized that crying over the past wouldn't change anything.
Finally, I chose to rise.
Every morning I wake up before sunrise. I prepare the small merchandise I sell to make ends meet. The profits aren't large, but they're enough to keep me going. I've learned to manage my expenses as frugally as possible, because I have no one else to rely on but myself.
Living life as a widow isn't as easy as I imagined. Some people look down on me, as if my status determines my worth. Others consider me weak just because I live alone.
But I choose to remain silent. I believe the best response isn't anger, but hard work.
Days pass, and my clientele begins to grow. They know me as a friendly, honest, and relentless woman. Little by little, my life began to change. I was able to save money, repair my house, and live a more peaceful life.
Even so, there are times when loneliness creeps in. When I see couples walking together or families laughing at dinner, I wonder if I'll ever feel that kind of happiness again?
I don't regret my past. Everything that has happened has taught me to be a stronger and more mature woman. Now I'm no longer looking for someone who's only good at sweet talk. I hope to meet someone who values struggle, respects loyalty, and is willing to walk with me through thick and thin.
If that soulmate comes, I will accept him with an open heart. But if not, I won't stop living life with passion.
Because I believe that happiness isn't just about having a partner. Happiness also comes when we are able to make peace with the past, be grateful for today, and move forward with positive hope.
I am indeed a widow.
But I am also a strong, independent woman, and I never stop believing that every struggle done sincerely will bring happiness in time.
