On March 1st, a new government will take office, marking the fourth time a progressive party will govern Uruguay. In foreign policy, there are already signs pointing to a new direction.

The outgoing right-wing government did not contribute to strengthening integration mechanisms; on the contrary, it opted to act unilaterally.

The expectation is that the country will return to the regional integration agenda, in a geopolitical context where multipolar competition is increasingly evident.

We discussed these issues with political scientist Pablo Álvarez, the principal delegate of the Broad Front's Commission on International Affairs and Relations.
