Does The Stoned Ape Theory Explain Human Evolution?
Psychedelic research has experienced somewhat of a renaissance in recent years. I think thanks to Joe Rogan’s try anything mentality, which isn’t always a good attitude, he’s been able to make millions of youngins more open-minded towards the potential benefits of the hallucinogenic substances found in many naturally occurring materials. An hypothesis which predates Rogan Joe and his podcast suggests our evolution was not only helped along but driven by the consumption of psychedelic fungi. How much weight does this hypothesis hold?
