Step 1: Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select Personalise. This opens the Personalisation settings directly.
Step 2: Click on Colours from the list of options on the right.
Step 3: Find the Choose your mode dropdown and select Custom. Then set Choose your default Windows mode to Dark. This step is required - the taskbar color option is locked in Light mode.
Step 4: Under the Accent colour section, click the dropdown and choose Manual.
Step 5: Scroll down to the Windows colours grid and click any color swatch. The selected color gets a checkmark to confirm the choice.
Step 6: Scroll down further and toggle Show accent colour on Start and taskbar to On.
The taskbar will update immediately with the chosen color - no restart needed.
