How To Remove Freeze Plugs From an Engine Block Freeze Plug Welch Plug Replacement Removal
In this video I will show you how to replace engine welch plugs/freeze plugs.
Here are the steps to replace them.
1- Tap the plugs loose with a hammer and flat head screw driver.
2- Pull the loose plugs out with some multi-grip pliers.
3- Check that the surface is clean. Clean it with a Scotch-bright pad or fine steel wool if it needs cleaning.
4- Spread gasket sealer around the plug so it seals properly and doesn't leak.
5- And lastly place a socket that is a couple mm smaller then the plug, in the plug, and tap it carefully until it is flush or slightly set into the block.
