Instead of taking over ACF (Advanced Custom Fields), WordPress should have just had a "fields" feature—in 2004.
ACF was the first plugin I installed when I had to use WP, and inspired a lot of what Payload does. In this video, I address the WordPress drama, some of their mistakes, and discuss how Payload is a nice transition for WP + ACF devs looking to jump ship.
