In this video I demo CasaOS, an open-source "operating system" for home servers. It ships with the ZimaBlade but can be deployed to any Linux based OS.
The whole thing is basically a wrapper around Docker, which means you can fall back on a huge swatch of existing images and documentation around Docker.
